At Oklahoma City Minority Enterprise Development (OKC MED) Week, our mission is to uplift, empower, and champion local minority entrepreneurs, small businesses, and creative professionals across our region.
We recognize that technology—including Artificial Intelligence—is rapidly transforming how organizations operate. Our policy reflects a commitment to ethical innovation, ensuring that any adoption of modern technology aligns with our primary goal: supporting local human talent, economic growth, and creative ownership.
OKC MED Week encourages and supports the use of Assistive AI technologies designed to improve organizational accessibility, operational efficiency, and business productivity.
We fully support tools and workflows that:
Enhance Digital & Web Accessibility: Screen-reading assistance, real-time closed captioning, alt-text generation for visually impaired users, and digital accessibility compliance (ADA / Section 508).
Streamline Operations & Workflows: Business process automation, scheduling, administrative data organization, and routine workflow optimization.
Support Language Accessibility: Real-time translation tools and multilingual communication support for diverse local business communities.
While we embrace assistive technology for efficiency and accessibility, OKC MED Week strictly opposes the use or promotion of Generative AI tools that exploit, replace, or adversely impact local entrepreneurs, artists, writers, and original content creators.
Specifically, we do not support or endorse:
Exploitative Content Scraping: Generative tools built on training sets that harvest or utilize the copyrighted works, digital content, or intellectual property of independent creators and small businesses without explicit consent or fair compensation.
Synthetic Content Replacement: Generating synthetic artwork, logos, graphics, music, or written literature intended to replace human contractors, graphic designers, copywriters, or local creative agencies.
Deceptive Media: The creation, distribution, or promotion of AI-generated synthetic media (deepfakes, misleading visuals, or unverified automated commentary) that misrepresents local business entities or community leadership.
We hold our technology providers, event partners, and contractors to these same standards:
Respect for Local Talent: We prioritize commissioning and hiring local creators, designers, photographer/videographers, and consultants for our marketing, branding, and event deliverables.
Transparency: Any vendor or contributor utilizing AI assistance in work delivered to OKC MED Week must declare its use and ensure it complies with our standards regarding intellectual property rights.
As AI capabilities and legislation evolve, OKC MED Week will regularly evaluate this policy to ensure it remains aligned with best practices in digital accessibility, economic equity, and respect for community creators.
